Brittlewood - Zimbali
Hidden amongst the natural bush overlooking a well-manicured fairway with a view of the sea, this residence fits perfectly into its surroundings. With this in mind, the kitchen design brief was simple: clean elegance.
To create such a space, the design needed to be functional yet timeless. Here the materials had to work together and complement each other. The choice of colour and textures had to be chosen with the size of the space in mind. The decision was to go as light and fresh as possible, so naturally white was the first choice. However, the client still wanted a warm, calm feel to the overall space.
As a result the following materials were used:
Island – textured matte board with 20mm Mocha Caesarstone cut down to 8mm thick with a minimal overhang to create a seamless block of colour. Off the island is the feature breakfast nook top (60mm Snow White Caesarstone) to draw you into the kitchen and to open up the space. Surrounding the island we used white high-gloss to bring the entire kitchen together and to reflect the outside in.
The end result was a functional, aesthetically pleasing kitchen which achieved our design philosophy of creating timeless space.
